And it worked. Again.
The gritty quarterback led theBuffalo Billsto a stunning,27-24 victory against the Jacksonville Jaguarson Jan. 11 in an AFC playoff opener that, naturally, wasn't decided until the fourth quarter.
Also so notable: TheBillsfinally won another road playoff game.
The drama marked Buffalo's first road playoff victory since January 1993, snapping a streak of eight consecutive playoff losses away from home.
The result also adds fuel that without Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow in the playoff field, Allen, after so many January setbacks, may have his best shot tolead the Bills to the Super Bowl.

Allen's 36-yard completion toBrandin Cooksin the final two minutes – as he absorbed a crunching hit – set up the winning touchdown just when it appeared the upstartJaguars(13-4 regular season) had positioned themselves to advance.
Allen capped the 9-play, 66-yard drive with a one-yard TD plunge with 1:04 remaining that marked the third lead change in a furious fourth quarter.
Allen, who headed into the game nursing a foot injury, thenleft the game twiceto be evaluated for head and knee injuries, passed for 273 yards with a touchdown, and rushed for 33 yards and two scores.
And unlike his counterpart,Trevor Lawrence, he didn't commit a turnover.
The Bills sealed the victory when safety Cole Bishop intercepted Lawrence to squash hopes for a Jaguars rally. It was Lawrence's second pick of the game.
Buffalo (12-5 regular season) advances toface either the Denver Broncos or New England Patriotsin the AFC divisional round next weekend.
