On Reddit a woman wrote that she was disappointed her friend's wedding had no drama
She said going into the nuptials, she expected chaos like she's seen in other Reddit wedding stories
Since posting, commenters responded that she could have started the drama herself
One woman is facing backlash after telling her friend that her wedding was "disappointing," not because anything went wrong, but because nothing did.
In aposton Reddit, the woman explained that she and the bride were part of the same college friend group. When she received the wedding invitation, she was thrilled. She said it was her first wedding, and she'd been looking forward to it for weeks.
"The night before, I made sure everything was ready," she wrote. "When the day finally came, I got there early, sat in the back, and waited for the chaos to begin."
But to her surprise, it never did.
"People came in, found seats, greeted each other quietly," she said. "No one fought over seating or threw a fit about plus-ones. I was just beginning to give up hope when I saw her — some woman in a blue-and-white dress. There was definitely white in there, but again… nothing happened."
She added how no one seemed bothered. Even the bride didn't react as she walked down the aisle. The ceremony, the Redditor said, was "sweet but boring," with "absolutely zero drama," not even the traditional "speak now" moment.
"I figured the reception would save the day," she continued. "But again...nothing! The food and music were fine. The speeches were short and sweet. No drunk relatives, no surprise proposals, no one fighting over dessert. Everyone just… ate, danced, and had fun."

By the end of the night, she was quietly stewing when the bride came over to check on her.
"She asked if everything was okay," the woman recalled. "I admitted I was quite disappointed with her wedding, and explained all I've said above. She asked if I was really hoping her wedding would be ruined."
She added, "I calmly explained (at least I had that) that I was just expecting a real wedding like I'd read about on reddit, and all of them had some sort of drama. She gave me a weird look and moved on, but I could tell she was annoyed."

Now, a week later, the Redditor says no one seems upset about the exchange, but she's still wondering if she did something wrong.
"Am I the AH here?" she asked. "Was that even a wedding without any drama?"
Since posting, hundreds of people have chimed in to share their thoughts on the situation, and most agree the poster is the problem.
"YTA for not instigating the drama yourself," one commenter wrote. "The bride gave you a weird look because you clearly know how weddings are supposed to go and you did nothing to help it along. You had a whole spray bottle of red wine and didn't use it??? Major AH move."
"Why oh why did you not wear white yourself?" another person said. "Then you should have objected AND made a speech. Do you have small children? No? Then borrow some and bring them! ... This is all on you. YTA for disappointing yourself-and us. 😢"
