Whoopi Goldberg will not be on The View this week

Whoopi Goldbergis enjoying a different kind of view this week.
The longtime moderator and co-host ofThe Viewannounced on Monday, Nov. 17, that she'll be absent from the show's panel this week, and for good reason.
Ahead of the Monday episode, the 70-year-old EGOT recipient shared the news to her Instagram Stories. "If you notice I'm not onThe Viewthis week, it's because I'm in Italy working," Goldberg wrote, without giving too much away about her trip abroad.
Goldberg's caption came alongside an image of her getting her makeup done in a dressing room. She also shared a behind-the-scenes clip from her apparent forthcoming project.

Back in June, Goldberg revealed that she landed a role on the popular Italian soap opera,Un Posto Al Sole. She made the announcement in anInstagram video, telling fans that she was "happy" to be joining the cast.
"They know it's a crazy idea, I know it's a crazy idea, but what a wonderful thing to do," the actress and host said at the time. "I'm looking forward to it. I'm excited. No, my Italian is not perfect, but we've worked it out. Ciao! See you on TV."
In the post's caption, Fremantle Italia shared that Goldberg's character will premiere on the show in 2026 as part of a multi-episode storyline. During the Thursday, Nov. 13 episode ofThe View'sBehind the Tablepodcast, Goldberg elaborated on her role, noting that it came about because she was "looking for things to do."
"I only know soap operas here," she said. "I love a soap opera. I love it. I don't know how they work there. I don't know if they do four lines from here, three lines from there. I don't know how it works. But it will all be new."
"I wish I could take y'all with me," she added of her colleagues onThe View. "I might be able to shoot something on my cell... It's time. It's time for me to do some things in addition to this."
Goldberg's apparent brief absence from the show follows her on-air70th birthday celebration on Thursday, Nov. 13.
Throughout the week, co-hostJoy Beharmissed multiple episodes, which she later revealed was theresult of an iPad falling on her footand breaking her toe.
