A day after news broke that the Chicago Cubs and Pete Crow-Armstrong were finalizing a contract extension, multiple media outlets reported the specifics on Tuesday.

The center fielder reportedly is receiving a six-year, $115 million deal.

It's quite a present one day before Crow-Armstrong's 24th birthday on Wednesday.

Last season, Crow-Armstrong received his first All-Star selection, won a Gold Glove and ended up ninth in National League MVP voting.

In his third major league campaign, Crow-Armstrong got off to a great start in 2025, hitting .265/.302/.544 with 25 homers and 71 RBIs in 95 games before the All-Star break. He faltered in the second half, however, batting .216/.262/.372 with six homers and 24 RBIs in 62 games.

He ended the year at .247/.287/.481 with 31 homers and 95 RBIs. Crow-Armstrong also amassed 37 doubles and 35 stolen bases, becoming the first Cub with 30-plus doubles, homers and steals in the same season.

Crow-Armstrong, through 293 major league games, has a .240/.285/.437 batting line with 50 doubles, 10 triples, 41 homers, 143 RBIs and 64 steals.

Chosen by the Mets in the first round (19th overall) of the 2020 draft, Crow-Armstrong was sent to the Cubs in the July 2021 trade that moved infielder Javier Baez and right-hander Trevor Williams to New York.

The Cubs begin the season on Thursday at home against the Washington Nationals.

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Mikael Granlund scored twice, Alex Killorn had a goal and an assist, and the Anaheim Ducks beat the Vancouver Canucks 5-3 on Thursday night.

Mason McTavish and Troy Terry also scored for the Ducks, while John Carlson had three assists and Lukas Dostal stopped 27 shots.

Anaheim grabbed a 2-1 lead in the second period, only to see Vancouver rally and tie the game twice before McTavish scored the winner at the 5:45 mark of the third.

Jake DeBrusk, Brock Boeser and Drew O'Connor scored for the Canucks, while Filip Hronek and Elias Pettersson each contributed a pair of assists. Kevin Lankinen made 29 saves.

Pettersson's second assist of the night marked the 500th regular-season point of his NHL career.

Anaheim remains atop the Pacific Division with a five-point cushion on the second-place Edmonton Oilers.

Ducks defenseman Radko Gudas returned to the lineup after servinga five-game suspensionfor the knee-on-knee hit on Toronto Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews.

The blow left Matthews with a torn knee ligament that requiredseason-ending surgery.

The Canucks got solid play from their special teams. DeBrusk and Boeser each scored power-play goals, and the penalty kill weathered a 95 second five-on-three before conceding Granlund's goal late in a penalty to defenseman Elias Pettersson.

The Ducks fell behind 1-0 in the opening frame, then outshot Vancouver 14-12 and scored a pair of goals over a 2:24 span.

McTavish got his first goal in 15 games. He buried his 14th goal of the season at the 5:45 mark of the third period, blasting a one-timer over Lankinen's glove from the faceoff dot to give the Ducks a 4-3 lead.

Pettersson tallied his 500th regular-season point in his 533rd game. Thomas Gradin is the lone Canuck to hit the milestone faster, doing so in 529 games.

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Connor McDavid kept a straight face while making a curious revelation to a group of reporters after surpassing 400 career goals.

"Goal scoring is something that has not come easy to me," the Edmonton Oilers star said Tuesday night after scoring twice in a5-2 win over Utah, giving him 401.

"It's something that I work at, something that I focus on," McDavid added. "I set a goal at the beginning of the year: trying to shoot more pucks."

Jack Roslovic, who also had two goals in the win, couldn't believe McDavid's claim that he's not a natural at scoring. When asked if he agreed, Roslovic looked incredulous and scoffed: "No comment."

Roslovic says his team, which moved into second place in the Pacific Division, follows the longest tenured captain in Oilers history even if he doesn't say a lot.

"It's just the hustle. Everyone watches him, knows what he's doing, and it's inspiring, humbling, motivating," the center said.

McDavid became the fifth player in Oilers history to reach 400 goals when he took a feed from Mattias Ekholm and Evan Bouchard and beat Karel Vejmelka with 7:53 left in the second period.

The go-ahead goal was his 40th of the season and put Edmonton in front 3-2. He scored his 401st goal on an empty-netter with 7.5 seconds remaining.

McDavid is a three-time winner of the Hart Memorial Trophy as the league's MVP — one of only two unanimous winners, along with Wayne Gretzky — and is known for his extraordinary quickness, recently hitting a top on-ice speed of 24.61 mph in a game.

"Of course, there's his speed, but I don't think he gets enough credit for his shot," Oilers coach Kris Knobaluch said. "He is dangerous when he gets off the circles and he's got a great release and is so difficult to check. He's so determined to get to the net."

McDavid considers himself more of a playmaker. He now has 1,200 points in his career — the third-fastest player to reach the mark behind Gretzky and Mario Lemieux — and needs just one assist to reach 800.

"It's a big number, obviously, and I feel like I got a lot of great years ahead of me still, which is exciting," said McDavid, the No. 1 draft pick in 2015. "These milestones are just a nice time to reflect and I'm just very grateful to have played with so many great players."

Some of them say it's difficult at times to not sit back and watch the show McDavid puts on.

"He's amazing," Roslovic said. "Just really cool for him, obviously, to do that, and then for us to be able to be a part of it and to be able to watch is special."

The pregnancy news comes six months after they saidAbby experienced pregnancy lossat 17 weeks with a baby girl in a Sept. 27Instagrampost. They shared that they were at a "routine pregnancy appointment" when the doctor was unable to find a heartbeat. They later found out their baby, whom they namedEmerson Nicole, had a "genetic condition that took her life."

"The news felt unimaginable," the couple wrote alongside a photo of them holding hands. "The grief is absolutely devastating. But we feel so much gratitude for the time that we did get to have with her. And we still have hope. Hope has continued to show up for us in so many ways."

In the months following their announcement, Abby reflected on her grief following the "most devastating thing" she's experienced in her life.

"But navigating through all this pain and blame and guilt and anger and deep sadness has taught me something I never would have expected," she said in a November 2025video. "About a week ago, when I was just driving in the car, I came to this conclusion that has changed almost everything for me."

"Not everyone is going to see grief and loss this way, and that's totally okay. It's something that's so deeply personal to each person," she continued. "But I realized that for me, grief is the price of love. I'm grieving so hard because I loved so hard."

On Feb. 28, the pairmarked what would have been Emerson's due datein an Instagram post. "In another version of today, maybe we were holding you for the very first time," the couple wrote alongside a photo of themselves. "But that's not today."

"Today we are grieving you: our daughter and baby sister," they added. "We grieve because we love (so so much) and for the rest of our lives we will carry your love with us. Happy due date sweet Emerson Nicole. 🤍🪽."

The couple shared the inspiration behind the name they had planned to give their late daughter on the March 4episode of theirUnplannedpodcast.Abby explained that she had a stillborn sister, a year older than her, named Emily Nicole.

"And so we named Emerson — they share that middle name — which was really meaningful for us. Our nurse, that was literally an angel to us when we delivered her, her name was Nicole," Abby explained. "So it also just felt so appropriate at that time and like meaningful to our family. I will say like picking out that name after knowing that her heart wasn't beating... you never want that experience to be something you and your baby are experiencing."

CAPE TOWN, South Africa (AP) — A Cambodian man deported by the United States to the African kingdom ofEswatiniunder the Trump administration'sthird-country programwas released from a prison Wednesday to be repatriated, his lawyer said.

Pheap Rom was deported to the southern African nation in October and held at a maximum-security prison with other deportees. He was due to take a commercial flight to Johannesburg, South Africa, to start his journey to Cambodia, his U.S.-based lawyer, Tin Thanh Nguyen, told The Associated Press.

The U.S. has sent 19 migrants from other countries to Eswatiniin three batchessince July. Rom is the second to be repatriated.

U.S. President Donald Trump has taken a hard-line stance on immigration and the U.S. has deported around 300 migrants to countries they have no ties with under the third-country program, which lawyers have criticized as unlawful.

The U.S. has struck deals withat least seven African nationsto take some of those migrants. The U.S. paid Eswatini $5.1 million to take up to 160 deportees, according to details of the deal released by the U.S. State Department.

Rom served a 15-year prison sentence in the U.S. for attempted murder and was released in late 2024, Nguyen said, adding in a statement that Rom was illegally held at the prison in Eswatini for five months because he faced no criminal charges in the African country.

LONDON (AP) — A former cancer nurse who became a priest at the age of 40 will be installed asarchbishop of Canterburyon Wednesday, publicly celebrating her election as the first woman to lead the Church of England.

Although Sarah Mullally, 63, formally became the archbishop of Canterbury in January, Wednesday's event marks the beginning of her public ministry as both the head of the Church of England and spiritual leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion. The communion is an association of independent churches, including the Episcopal Church in the U.S., that together have more than 100 million members.

"I intend be a shepherd who enables everyone's ministry and vocation to flourish, whatever our tradition,'' Mullally said when named last year. "Today I give thanks for all the women and men … who have paved the way for this moment. And to all the women that have gone before me, thank you for your support and your inspiration."

The ceremony will be attended by Prince William, Princess Catherine,U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmerand representatives from many of the communion's 42 member churches. Representatives from the Vatican and theOrthodox churchwill also attend.

In a nod to Mullally's historic appointment, the service is taking place on the Feast of the Annunciation, which marks the moment Mary was told she had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus. It is a day on which the church says it celebrates "one of the great women of the Bible and thinks about how we can respond to God's call."

The celebration marks a major milestone for the Church of England, which traces its roots to the year 597, when the pope sent St. Augustine to Britain to convert the population to Christianity. He is now recognized as the first archbishop of Canterbury. The English churchbroke awayfrom theRoman Catholic Churchin the 1530s, during the reign of King Henry VIII.

The church ordained its first female priests in 1994 and itsfirst female bishopin 2015.

Mullally begins her tenure as archbishop at a difficult time for the Church of England and the Anglican Communion.

Her appointment may deepen rifts within the Anglican Communion, whose members aredeeply dividedover issues such as the role of women and the treatment of LGBTQ+ people.

She will also have to confront concerns that the church has failed to stamp out thesexual abuse scandalsthat have dogged it and caused strife for more than a decade.

Mullally replaces former Archbishop Justin Welby, whoannounced his resignationin November 2024, after he was criticized for failing to act decisively and tell police about allegations of physical and sexual abuse by a volunteer at a church-affiliated summer camp.

Born in Woking, southwest of London in 1962, Mullally attended local schools and worked as a nurse in Britain's National Health Service until she was named chief nursing officer for England at the age of 37, the youngest person ever to hold the post.

While still working in that job, she began training for the ministry.

She was named a bishop in 2015, becoming the fourth woman in the Church of England to reach that rank. Three years later, she was named bishop of London, one of the most prominent positions in the church.

But on Wednesday she will also remember her life before the church, securing her ceremonial cloak with a clasp decorated by the buckle from the belt she wore as a nurse.

The service will also acknowledge the Anglican Communion's worldwide reach, with Archbishop Albert Chama of Zambia offering a prayer in the Bemba language and Bishop Alba Sally Sue Hernández García of Mexico providing a Bible reading in Spanish. The Kyrie prayer will be sung in Urdu.

George Gross, an expert on theology and the monarchy at King's College London, said Mullally's appointment instantly makes her one of the most recognized Christian figures in the world, alongside the pope.

"I think it's huge, absolutely massive," he told The Associated Press. "But it matters because, as we've talked before, the stained glass ceiling is smashed. And that, in the world we're in, when we talk of equality, (it's) hard to have that if you have unattainable positions."
