No. 4 Duke clamps down late, tops Pitt in bounce-back win

Isaiah Evans scored 21 points to power No. 4 Duke to a 70-54 road win at Pittsburgh on Tuesday night.

Evans went 5 of 6 from 3-point range in the bounce-back victory for the Blue Devils (22-2, 11-1 Atlantic Coast Conference). Cameron Boozer contributed his 13th double-double of the season with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Caleb Foster scored 14 points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists.

Roman Siulepa paced the Panthers (9-16, 2-10) with 19 points, and Barry Dunning Jr. scored 17. It was Pitt's fourth consecutive loss and 10th in its last 12 games.

Pitt had a six-point lead early on, and still maintained a one-point advantage with less than three minutes remaining in the first half. Dunning scored 13 points in the opening period, while Duke struggled with its shooting from beyond the arc, hitting just 22.2% of its 3-pointers in the first 20 minutes. However, one of the 3-pointers the Blue Devils made was from Devin Harris, which capped off a 7-0 run to close the half with Duke up 35-29.

Duke turned up the tempo in the second half and went on to lead by as much as 18 points following a 14-5 run late in the game. That scoring surge began with a thunderous dunk by Boozer, then punctuated by the freshman phenom converting a 3-point play where he connected on a layup through contact and then knocked down the free throw.

Pitt made just one field goal in the final four minutes of play.

The Blue Devils dominated inside, outrebounding the Panthers 37-23 and outscoring them in the paint 36-22. After a hot shooting first half, Pitt made just 2 of 13 3-pointers in the second half while Duke knocked down 7 of 14, with four of those makes coming from Evans.

Duke played without starting center Patrick Ngongba, who was listed as questionable with a left hand injury coming into the game. Ultimately, the 6-foot-11 sophomore was sidelined while wearing a wrap on his hand on the bench.

"He's doing better. He's really tough, he played through it (against North Carolina on Saturday). The good news is we got the imaging and all that," Duke head coach Jon Scheyer said on the Blue Devils' pregame radio show. "Everything is intact and he's okay, but there's some stuff going on there with some soreness and we got to get him right and healthy."

Victor Wembanyama says he was 'proving a point' with his 40-point barrage in Spurs' win over Lakers

Victor Wembanyama says he was 'proving a point' with his 40-point barrage in Spurs' win over Lakers

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Victor Wembanyama began his 40-point performance against the Lakers on Tuesday night with a 25-point first quarter. That relentless start was a direct message from both the San Antonio Spurs and their young superstar.

Wembanyama is tired of the Spurs playing poorly against lesser opponents, and he took it on himself personally to make spectacularly quick work of a Lakers lineup missing nearly all of Los Angeles' best players inSan Antonio's 136-108 victory.

"What got me going was honestly proving myself a point, proving my team a point," said Wembanyama, who also had 12 rebounds while matching his highest-scoring performance of the season. "I'm not worried about us, I'm not worried about me, against good teams. But history has showed that I need to be worried about us against teams like this. So yeah, we don't just talk about what we need to do. We need to actually act."

When Wembanyama coolly dropped in a turnaround fadeaway jumper that gave him 25 points with four minutes still left in the first quarter, it was clear he was in a profound groove.

The French big man went 8 of 9 from the field with three 3-pointers in those first eight minutes. He went on to a 37-point first half while leading San Antonio to a 30-point lead over the Lakers, who were without Luka Doncic, LeBron James and Austin Reaves.

"He was very aggressive, as aggressive to start a game as I've seen him, both in attacking the basket and in shooting without hesitation from three," Lakers coach JJ Redick said. "He just really put his imprint on the game in that first half."

Wembanyama had the highest-scoring first half performance by anybody in the NBA this season, and the highest-scoring half by a Spurs player in the 21st century.

And he played only 26 minutes — the fewest by any player in a 40-point game since Sleepy Floyd did it in 24 minutes in February 1991.

"It feels right," Wembanyama said with a grin when asked to describe his first-half flow.

He was looking for his shot at every opportunity, and his teammates fed him relentlessly. It was all by design for the center, who will start his first All-Star Game this weekend several miles down the freeway at Intuit Dome.

"These kind of games, you've got to have the greed," Wembanyama said. "I mean, every game you've got to have this greed to want more every time, because, you know, at all times, it doesn't matter who's on the court, somebody is going to want to stop you from what you're doing out there. So you've got to be greedy."

Although the Lakers altered their defensive game plan and upped their intensity in the third quarter after that first-half embarrassment, only the grind of the NBA season likely held Wembanyama to a mere 40 points, 10 shy of his career high.

The Spurs have another game at Golden State on Wednesday night, so coach Mitch Johnson gave an early night to Wembanyama after he hit one last 3-pointer and checked out with 4:13 left in the third.

"Of course I'm ready to go back on the court," Wembanyama said. "I was also pushing to go back. But I mean, they made the right choice by keeping me on the bench. We've got to think long-term."

The Spurs are 14-7 since New Year's Eve, but they've lost to Charlotte, New Orleans, Memphis and Portland in that stretch. San Antonio has the NBA's third-best record despite those lapses.

"Playing against quote-unquote 'bad teams' or teams missing players has been our problem," Wembanyama said. "Or consistency. I think almost every time we've been ready against the top seeds. Our record against them shows it. But we've also been bad against below-.500 teams. Tonight, I think we had to make a statement and show progress."

Wembanyama will be the Spurs' only All-Star in Inglewood this weekend, and Johnson is surprised by that development — although he also has a guess about why it happened.

"I do think it's very interesting that De'Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle have not been named an All-Star," Johnson said. "Seven teams in this league have multiple All-Stars, and we've played pretty good against a lot of the top teams in this league. ... Nothing to take away from anybody who has been named an All-Star, because they have a lot of great players, but the only way I can think we are deserving of (only) one All-Star means there must be an awful lot of people that have Victor Wembanyama as one of the front-runners for MVP."

The Spurs (37-16) have the best record among teams without multiple All-Stars.

Jon Stewart Calls Out Donald Trump For His Bad Bunny Post

Jon Stewart Calls Out Donald Trump For His Bad Bunny Post

Jon Stewarthas called outDonald Trumpand his supporters who criticized Bad Bunny's Super Bowl halftime performance. He turned their argument about national unity back on them. Stewart questioned the expectation placed on entertainers and pointed directly at the president's own divisive rhetoric.

Jon Stewart blasts Donald Trump on his show

The comedy host dissected the conservative backlash to Bad Bunny's headlining performance at Super Bowl LX. After highlighting clips of talking heads calling the show divisive, Stewart zeroed in on the absurdity at the heart of the complaint.

"Why the f— is it the Super Bowl halftime entertainer's job to unify the country? In what world is that their job?" Stewart said on The Daily Show on February 9. "Oh, isn't there another person whose job description is much more along those lines?" he added.

Jon Stewart then contrasted that expectation with Donald Trump's actions on the same day. He displayed a screengrab from the president's Truth Social account. Trump had called the performance "absolutely terrible" and claimed "nobody understands a word this guy is saying."

"Nobody?" Stewart retorted, laughing. "I love how he thinks that Bad Bunny is the one guy in the world that's fluent in Spanish," he added." You know, the right has a lot of balls complaining that Bad Bunny didn't do enough to unify this country, when you only found out a few days ago that Puerto Rico is a part of it," Stewart added.

The host didn't stop there. Stewart offered a "unifying pro tip" for Trump's supporters. "Tell your guy to stop tweeting out racist slop during — I don't know — Black History Month," he said. This was a reference to a recently deleted racist post depicting the Obamas as primates that appeared on Trump's Truth Social, which the president's team blamed on a staffer.

Stewart also took aim at the alternative Turning Point USA halftime show, which ran concurrently and featured Kid Rock. He dismissed it as "an old man in acid-washed shorts badly lip-sync[ing] his way through a pre-taped" performance. On the other hand, Bad Bunny's Super Bowl LX Halftime Show emphasized the message of love and has already surpassed 50 million views.

Ex-Prince Andrew Pained by Distance From Ex Sarah Ferguson — Source

February 10, 2026
Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson

For years,Sarah Fergusonand formerPrince Andrewcultivated a reputation as the divorced couple who never fully parted ways. They continued to share Royal Lodge long after their 1996 divorce, vacationed together, and consistently presented a united front that royal watchers often described as unusually warm, even enviable.

Ex-Prince Andrew struggling to cope with distance Sarah Ferguson, says source

Insidersclaim the pair have drifted significantly apart, describing them as "worlds away" from the carefully maintained brand of being the "most friendly divorced couple on Earth." What once looked like a modern royal arrangement now appears strained by circumstances and reputation.

The shift follows Andrew's dramatic fall from public life and his impending exit from Royal Lodge, the Windsor property the former couple have shared since 2008. His reduced standing within the royal family has changed the dynamic around him. At 65, Andrew faces a markedly different future than the one he once occupied. At 66, Ferguson appears to be recalculating her own path.

The narrative of Andrew and Sarah as an exceptionally close, harmonious divorced pair "simply no longer reflects reality." Behind palace doors, sources say they now move on parallel tracks rather than as a unit. A royal expert described, "What is happening now represents a decisive break from the carefully maintained image of Andrew and Sarah as an unusually close, harmonious divorced couple." For years, Ferguson remained publicly loyal to her former husband. But insiders suggest that loyalty now comes with complications.

"Circumstances have shifted dramatically," one palace aide said. "For a long time, Sarah and Andrew benefited from presenting themselves as a united pair, even after their marriage ended. But Andrew's collapse in standing has altered the calculation." Those close to the situation say Ferguson has begun "focusing on how she secures her own future rather than continuing to shield him." Sources believe she may attempt yet another comeback, possibly through a memoir that tells her side of recent events and reframes her narrative.

Iran marks 1979 Islamic Revolution anniversary under pressure from inside and out

Iran marks 1979 Islamic Revolution anniversary under pressure from inside and out

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Iran marked the 47th anniversary of its 1979 Islamic Revolution on Wednesday as the country's theocracy remains under pressure, both from U.S. President Donald Trump suggesting sending another aircraft carrier group to the Mideast and a public angrily denouncing theirbloody crackdown on nationwide protests.

Associated Press

Trump made the suggestion in an interview published Tuesday night as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, long an Iran hawk, visited Washington to push the U.S. toward the strictest-possible terms in any agreement reached with Tehran inthe fledgling nuclear talks.

A top Iranian security official planned to visit Qatar on Wednesday after earlier traveling to Oman, which has mediated this latest round of negotiations.

On Iranian state television, authorities broadcast images of thousands taking to the streets across the country Wednesday to support the theocracy and its 86-year-old Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. But on Tuesday night, as government-sponsored fireworks lit the darkened sky, witnesses heard shouts from people's homes in the Iranian capital, Tehran, of "Death to the dictator!"

Commemoration comes under crackdown

In the streets, people waved images of Khamenei and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic, alongside Iranian and Palestinian flags. Some chanted "Death to America!" and "Death to Israel!"

Iran's reformist President Masoud Pezeshkian, who earlier ordered the country's foreign minister to enter talks with the Americans, was expected to later give a speech at Tehran's Azadi Square.

Among Iran's 85 million people, there is a hard-line element of support for Iran's theocracy, including members of its paramilitary Revolutionary Guard, which crucially put down the protests last month in a bloody suppression that killed thousands and saw tens of thousands detained. Others often take part in demonstrations as they are government employees or to enjoy the carnival atmosphere of a government-sponsored holiday.

As the commemoration took place, senior Iranian security official Ali Larijani left Oman for Qatar. That Mideast nation hosts a major U.S. military installation that Iran attacked in June afterthe U.S. bombed Iranian nuclear sitesduring the 12-day Iran-Israel war.

Qatar also has been a key negotiator in the past with Iran, with which it shares a massive offshore natural gas field in the Persian Gulf.

Speaking to the Russian state channel RT, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Tehran still does "not have full trust for the Americans."

"Last time we negotiated, last June we were in the middle of negotiation then they decided to attack us and that was a very very bad experience for us," Iran's top diplomat said. "We need to make sure that that scenario is not repeated and this is mostly up to America."

Despite that concern, Araghchi said it could be possible "to come to a better deal than Obama," referencing the 2015 nuclear deal with world powers Iran reached when former U.S. President Barack Obama was in office. Trump in his first term unilaterally withdrew America from the accord.

Trump suggests sending another carrier to Mideast

The United States has moved theaircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, ships and warplanes to the Middle East to pressure Iran into an agreement and have the firepower necessary to strike the Islamic Republic should Trump choose to do so.

Already, U.S. forcesshot down a dronethey said got too close to the Lincoln and came to the aid of a U.S.-flagged ship that Iranian forces tried to stop in the Strait of Hormuz, the narrow mouth of the Persian Gulf.

Trump told the news website Axios that he was considering sending a second carrier to the region, noting, "We have an armada that is heading there and another one might be going."

It remains unclear what carrier could go. The USS George H.W. Bush has left Norfolk, Virginia, according to U.S. Navy Institute News. The USS Gerald R. Ford remains in the Caribbean after the U.S. military raid that captured Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
