Warriors coach Steve Kerr ejected after heated exchange over no-call in 4th quarter vs Clippers

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (AP) — Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr was ejected in the fourth quarter against the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday night.

A furious Kerr was given back-to-back technical fouls after he appeared to become upset about John Collins of the Clippers not being called for goaltending. The 60-year-old coach was yelling as he crossed over the midcourt line on the sideline to pursue the referees with an assistant and players Gary Payton II and Gio Santos restraining him.

"I think it was that goaltending call that was missed," assistant Terry Stotts said when asked what in particular set Kerr off. "There was probably some other things, but that was the last straw probably. I didn't see a replay, but it sure seemed obvious at the time that it was a goaltend."

Kerr was ejected for the fifth time in his coaching career with 7:57 remaining and walked off to jeers from the Intuit Dome crowd. The Warriors lost 103-102after Golden State's Steph Curry fouled out for the first time since 2021.

"I'm up here because I'm saving Steve some money," said Stotts, who appeared at the postgame news conference in place of Kerr.

Rapper Snoop Dogg did commentary on the game for streaming service Peacock and he got especially animated when Kerr kept advancing toward the referees.

"The Arizona Wildcat came out and look at it," Snoop Dogg said, making snarling sounds.

Kerr was a standout basketball player at the University of Arizona in the late 1980s.

“Late Night”'s Seth Meyers charges Trump with invading another country because of its leader's 'wicked dance moves'

Seth Meyerscited a report that the Trump administration chose to attack Venezuela because of how Nicolás Maduro cuts a rug on Monday's episode ofLate Night.

"I don't actually think the president of the United States started a war over a foreign leader's dance moves," the host said. "That is absurd."

He then cut to Fox News citing aNew York Timesreport published Sunday that said Maduro's "regular public dancing and other displays of nonchalance in recent weeks helped persuade some on the Trump team that the Venezuelan president was mocking them and trying to call what he believed to be a bluff. So the White House decided to follow through on its military threats." The newspaper cited two anonymous sources.

"Oh my god," Meyers said. "We invaded Iraq because of WMDs, and now we invaded Venezuela because of WDMs — wicked dance moves!"

Meyers also joked that, when he's "annoyed by someone's dancing," he simply moves to another subway car.

Earlier in his broadcast, Meyers jokingly pointed out that Maduro actually did appear to be performing like Trump.

"Dancing at a rally in a red hat? He stole Trump's move," Meyers said. "Although, Maduro did make some changes; for example, he decided to also dance with his lower body. Trump was probably embarrassed that Maduro had better moves than him, especially considering Maduro's moves aren't good. Being worse than Maduro is like being the dancer that finished behindRaygun at the Olympics."

Meyers appeared to get serious further into his "A Closer Look" segment and said "the reality is we may simply never know why the Trump administration decided to wage war on Venezuela."

The show switched over to aGood Morning Americareport that Venezuela "sits on the largest supply of oil reserves in the world," then to a 2023 Trump speech on C-SPAN.

"When I left, Venezuela was ready to collapse," he said. "We would've taken it all. We would've gotten all that oil."

Clips of Trump and his supporters mentioning the oil followed.

"Damn it," Meyers said. "I just wish there were clues."

Late Night With Seth Meyersairs weeknights at 12:35 p.m. ET on NBC.

NEED TO KNOW

  • Last month, Mickey Rourke was served with a notice to pay nearly $60,000 in back rent or vacate his Los Angeles property

  • A $100,000 GoFundMe campaign was later started on behalf of the actor by a woman who said she was a part of his management team

  • On Monday, Jan. 5, Rourke had no knowledge of the crowdfunding drive, stating, "I wouldn't ask for no f------ charity"

Mickey Rourkeis speaking out after a $100,00 GoFundMe campaign was launched on his behalf to help prevent him from being evicted.

Last month, the 73-year-old actor and former wrestlerwas served a notice to pay the $59,100 in back rent he allegedly owes or vacate his Los Angeles propertywithin three days. Thecrowdfunding drivewas then started to "help cover immediate housing-related expenses" and "prevent" him from losing his home.

In a video shared to hisInstagramprofile on Monday, Jan. 5, Rourke addressed the campaign and claimed he had no knowledge of it.

He said he was "frustrated," "confused" and didn't understand why someone created a GoFundMe campaign on his behalf.

"That's not me, okay?" he continued. "I'd rather, if I needed money, I wouldn't ask for no f----- charity. I'd rather stick a gun up my ass and pull the trigger."

Referencing "whoever did this," Rourke added, "I wouldn't know what a GoFundMe foundation is in a million years. My life is very simple, I wouldn't go to outside sources like that."

The campaign was started by a woman named Liya-Joelle Jones, who described herself as the assistant to Kimberly Hines, who is Rourke's manager. She said in the GoFundMe that it was "created with Mickey's full permission."

Still, in Rourke's video on Monday, he called the GoFundMe campaign "embarrassing. But I'm sure I'll get over it like anything else."

Reflecting on his career, Rourke said he has "done a really terrible job" in managing it.

"I wasn't diplomatic. I had to go to over 20 years of therapy to get over the damage that was done to me years ago. I worked very hard to work through that. I'm not that person anymore."

Though he urged his supporters not to donate to the campaign, and that he plans to speak to his lawyer about it, the drive has raised more than $95,000 of its goal as of Monday evening.

"There's only one person I can think of that would do such a thing, and I hope it's not the person I'm thinking about. It's humiliating," the actor went on to say.

Rourke said that although he did "borrow money from a great friend of mine," after suffering a financial setback from a rental property, he insisted he would "never ask strangers or fans or anybody for a nickel. That's not my style."

For now, Rourke said he plans to go back to work and reassured fans he's doing just fine.

He concluded by pleading with fans who donated to "get your money back. wouldn't do it this way. I got too much pride."

PEOPLE has reached out to Jones, Hines and GoFundMe for comment.

The property is a three-bedroom, 1,600-square-foot home, per the property's listing on Zillow.

According to a complaint, Rourke signed the lease in March 2025 for a monthly rent of $5,200, which was later increased to $7,000.

In addition to the sum Rourke allegedly owes in past-due rent, his landlord Eric Goldie is also requesting compensation for attorney fees, the document states. The landlord is also asking for the "forfeiture" of their rental agreement.

The most interesting tech we saw on day one of CES

The most interesting tech we saw on day one of CES

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Sure,Nvidia, AMD and Intel all had important chip and AI platform announcements on the first day of CES 2026, but all audiences wanted to see more of was Star Wars and Jensen Huang's little robot buddies.

CES is a huge opportunity annually for companies both large and small to parade products they plan to put on shelves this year. And, as predicted, artificial intelligencewas anchored in nearly everything as tech firms continue to look for AI products that will attract customers.

AP has been on the ground looking at booths and covering big announcements, here is a roundup of the highlights we saw on the first day of CES.

Nvidia gets physical

The biggest buzzword in the air at CES is "physical AI," Nvidia's term for AI models that are trained in a virtual environment using computer generated, "synthetic" data, then deployed as physical machines once they've mastered their purpose.

CEO Jensen Huang showed off Cosmos, an AI foundation model trained on massive datasets, capable of simulating environments governed by actual physics. He also announced Alpamayo, an AI model specifically designed for autonomous driving. Huang revealed that Nvidia's next generation AI superchip platform, dubbed Vera Rubin, is in full production, and that Nvidia has a new partnership with Siemens. All of this shows Nvidia is going to fight increased competition to retain its reputation as thebackbone of the AI industry.

But once Huang called for two little, waddling, chirping robots to join him on stage, that's all the audience wanted to see more of.

The chips are back in town

AMD CEO Lisa Su announced a new line of its famed Ryzen AI processors as the company continues to expand itsfootprintin the world of AI-powered personal computers.

For gamers, AMD also showed off the latest version of its gaming-focused processor, the AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D.

Meanwhile, Intel announced its new AI chip for laptops, Panther Lake (also known as the Intel Core Ultra Series 3), and said the company has plans to launch a new platform to address a growing market for handheld video gaming machines.

Intel, a Silicon Valley pioneer that enjoyed decades of growth as its processors powered the personal computer boom, fell into a slump after missing the shift to the mobile computing era unleashed by the iPhone. It fell further behind after the AI boom propelled Nvidia into the spotlight.

President Donald Trump's administration stepped in recently tosecure a 10% stakein the company, making the government one of Intel's biggest shareholders. Federal officials said they invested in Intel to support U.S. technology and domestic manufacturing.

Uber dives back into the robotaxi game

Uber is giving the public a first look at their robotaxi at this CES this week. Uber, along with luxury electric vehicle manufacturer Lucid Motors and vehicle tech company Nuro, introduced an autonomous vehicle with an Uber-designed in-cabin experience.

Uber calls it the most luxurious robotaxi yet. It features cameras, sensors and radars that provide 360-degree perception and a low-profile roof "halo" with integrated LEDs that will display riders' initials to help them spot their car and track their ride status. Inside, riders can personalize everything from climate and seat heating to music, while real-time visuals show exactly what the vehicle is seeing on the road and the route it plans to take.

Autonomous on-road testing began last month in San Francisco, led by Nuro, marking a major step toward what the companies said is a planned launch before the end of the year.

Star Wars and Lego announce new a partnership

When Lucasfilm chief creative officer David Filoni brought out an array of X-Wing pilots, Chewbacca, R2D2 and C-3PO, he won the Star Wars fandom for Lego.

Lego announced its Lego Smart Play platform on Monday, which introduces new smart bricks, tags and special minifigs for your collection. The new bricks contain sensors that enable them to sense light and distance, and to provide an array of responses, essentially lights and sounds, when they are used in unison.

Combine this with a newly announced partnership with the Star Wars franchise and now you can create your own interactive space battles and light-saber duels.

LG reveals a new robot to help around the home

File this one under intrigued, for now.

The Korean tech giant gave the media a glimpse Monday of its humanoid robot that is designed to handle household chores such as folding laundry and fetching food. Although many companies have robots on display at CES, LG certainly is one of the biggest tech companies to promise to put a service robot in homes.

It will be on display — and we assume demonstrating some of its purported abilities — beginning Tuesday, so we'll have more to report soon.

What's new with lollipops?

Music you can taste was on display Monday at CES: Lollipop Star unveiled a candy that plays music while you eat it. The company says it uses something called "bone induction technology," which lets you hear songs — like tracks from Ice Spice and Akon — through the lollipop as you lick it or bite it in the back of your mouth, according to spokesperson Cassie Lawrence.

The musical lollipops will go on sale after CES on Lollipop Star's website for $8.99 each. And if that wasn't enough star power, Akon was expected to visit the company's booth Tuesday when CES opens to the public.

Atlas holds up Hyundai's (manufacturing) world

Hyundai-owned Boston Dynamics publicly demonstrated its humanoid robot Atlas for the first time at the CES tech showcase, ratcheting up a competition with Tesla and other rivals to buildrobots that look like peopleand do things that people do.

The company said a version of the robot that will help assemble cars is already in production and will be deployed by 2028 at Hyundai's electric vehicle manufacturing facility near Savannah, Georgia.

Delta gets spherical

Delta Air Lines is taking entertainment to new heights as the "official airline" of the Sphere in Las Vegas. The airline announced a new multiyear partnership with Sphere Entertainment Co. that it says will deliver premium experiences to the venue, including a Delta SKY360° Club lounge.

The carrier said SkyMiles members can unlock exclusive access to other experiences at the Sphere, starting during the final weekend of the Backstreet Boys' residency in February with features including private suite seating, food and beverages. The partnership brings Delta branding to the Sphere's massive exterior LED screen. Delta says more exclusive SkyMiles experiences will roll out in 2026 and beyond.

Donald Trump's second term: Actions, travels of the 47th president

Stewart, who was unsparing in his assessment, said the episode speaks of "something inherent in the character of this administration, and that is fragility," adding that "this smacks of weakness and fear."

On Nov. 18, Kelly and five other Democratic lawmakers released a video telling service members they havethe right not to obey orders they believe are illegal. Trump subsequently accused the lawmakers in the video of "SEDITIOUS BEHAVIOR, punishable by DEATH!"in a Nov. 20 post on Truth Social.

The president later claimed that he wasn't "threatening death" on the lawmakers in a Nov. 21 interview on Fox News Radio.

The Pentagon later announced that it wasinvestigating Kellyfor "serious allegations of misconduct." On Jan. 5, Hegseth said that helevied a censure against Kellyand began administrative proceedings to demote him.

Demotion process remains unclear

Demoting Kelly requires an administrative process known as officer grade determination, which, by law, makes its decisions based on an officer's conduct while on active duty. It's not clear how the Navy can legally consider Kelly's post-retirement conduct when making its determination.

According to federal law and Navy regulations, Navy Secretary John Phelan decides the retired rank of officers below the grade of vice admiral. In most cases, an administrative board reviews an officer's conduct before making a recommendation to Phelan.

Sen. Kelly censured.Hegseth backs down from court-martial

Retroactive reductions of retired officers are rare and typically reserved for serious misconduct from their time in uniform. A retired Army two-star general wasdemoted to second lieutenantin 2021 after a Virginia court convicted him of raping his daughter throughout her childhood.

In the Jan. 5 interview, Kelly reiterated his description of Hegseth as "the most unqualified Secretary of Defense in our country's history," froma post on X earlier in the dayand said the fight was "not just about me."

"He doesn't know what he's doing," Kelly said of Hegseth. "But there is tremendous power in that position."

"I will do everything that's appropriate in this circumstance to make sure that they know that this is unacceptable, that they cannot do this to people, but also to make sure that the American people know that you can't be stifling people's freedom of speech," Kelly said.
