Robert, 31, was on the mound at Phillies camp in Clearwater, Florida, on Sunday, March 22, when he suffered a cardiac incident. Medical personnel used a defibrullator on him and immediately transported him to the hospital, where he is stable and alert,according to team officials.

Robert had yet to pitch in a spring training game after a cardiovascular issue was detected in his medical exams before the start of camp.

Robert, who posted a 4.15 ERA in 15 games for the Phillies last season, suffered a similar cardiac incident last October. Afterward, hecredited the Phillies medical personnel with saving his lifeafter they administered CPR and used an external defibrillator to shock his heart.

Abigail Stanton is back in Hope Valley earlier than expected.

Lori Loughlinmakes a surprise appearance at the tail end ofWhen Calls the Heart's season 13 finale. As PEOPLE first reported in December last year,Loughlin will be returningto the hit Hallmark Channel series for season 14, but fans (we see you, Hearties) were treated to an early tease.

In the episode, after Elizabeth (Erin Krakow) and Nathan's (Kevin McGarry) engagement and after Elizabeth's thoughtful voice-over monologue, a car rolls down the main street of Hope Valley, past Yost's Mercantile, and pulls over in front of the Visitor's Center.

The camera focuses in on a woman's foot stepping out of the car and pans up: It's Abigail. Smiling, she looks around and says, "It's good to be home."

Loughlin was an original cast member when the Western drama first premiered in 2014. Her character, Abigail, is a widow and is beloved as Elizabeth's first friend in Hope Valley. She last appeared in March 2019, and it was laterexplainedthrough one of Elizabeth's voice-overs that Abigail had gone "back East" to take care of her mother, who had fallen ill.

"I'm so happy," Krakow told PEOPLE in December. "Lori is one of my best friends. She has such a good heart and is so kind and generous and loving. And getting to spend time with her is a real gift."

"I really feel like her character has been missed in Hope Valley," Krakow continued. "The fact that we're getting to bring back Abigail and learn about where she's been and see her reconnect with all of these characters that we know and love, it's just going to be so special for the fans, certainly. But it's also so special for our whole cast and crew because we've been missing her, and I just can't wait for that reunion."

Loughlin, 61, has since shared her own excitement at returning to the long-running show during appearances at theHallmark Christmas Experience in Kansas City in December and a celebration ofWhen Calls the Heartand its new prequel series,Hope Valley: 1874, on March 18.

"Since the series' debut in 2014, the character of Abigail Stanton was a fan favorite and beloved by the Hearties," Michelle Vicary, Hallmark Media's head of programming, said in a statement in December. "At its core, the Hallmark brand is about hope, positivity and connection, which is also the central theme ofWhen Calls the Heart. We felt that season 14 was the right time to continue Abigail's story with her return to this beloved series."

The new season — in which Loughlin is expected to appear in at least six of the 12 episodes — will film later this year and air in 2027.

Conner Floydhas landed a new role — husband!

TheDays of Our Livesnewcomer, 33, married Carly Frei at theLondon Hotelin West Hollywood, Calif., on Saturday, March 21. The bride and groom — who are originally from Boston and Austin, Texas, respectively — tell PEOPLE that they chose the location because they wanted to give their 220 guests "a glimpse" of what their lives are like in Los Angeles.

They envisioned "an old-school, Old Hollywood" vibe for their big day, which made the London — a luxury boutique hotel just steps from Rodeo Drive — the perfect venue to bring their dream wedding to life. Their goal was to gather together all of their favorite people for "a weekend full of so much love and fun."

"Especially having family and friends who live all over, this was the one time we could get everyone together from all walks of life," says Floyd, who starred as Phillip "Chance" Chancellor IV inThe Young and the Restlessfrom November 2021 to July 2025.

In a moment that shocked fans, his character was shot and killed during the July 28, 2025, episode, dying in the arms of Billy Flynn's character, Cane Ashby, and ending Floyd's time on the show. But in a surprise twist, Floyd was hired byDays of Our Livesto replace Flynn in the role of Chad DiMera.

He will make his onscreen debut on April 21, exactly one month after his wedding.

To help bring their nuptials to life, Floyd and Frei, 29, worked with wedding plannerKatie Seefeldt, whom they say made the process a breeze.

The wedding festivities kicked off on Friday, March 20, with a welcome party at theSunset Tower Hotel, hosted by Floyd's parents.

The next morning, Floyd and Frei, an esthetician and skincare expert, took a private moment to recite their handwritten vows to each other over coffee. Frei says it "helped calm the nerves and gave us a chance to be in the moment, just us two."

The couple's wedding ceremony was officiated by their "dear friend"Hayes Beyersdorfer, who was there the night they first met at The Den on Sunset Boulevard on Valentine's Day in 2020. (Floyd and Frei did not start dating until a year later, when they "randomly" ran into each other at a party.)

Frei walked down the aisle in a bridal look that was put together with help from Christy Baird, the owner ofLOHO Bridein West Hollywood. "I always had a vision for what I wanted, and then it all completely changed once I started actually trying on the dresses," Frei tells PEOPLE.

She ultimately chose a skirt, veil and neck scarf byDanielle Frankel, paired with aWiederhoeftcorset top. For her second look, she kept the corset and swapped her skirt for a mini version.

"I didn't want to do an entirely new second look," she explains. "I just wanted to do a mini version of my wedding dress, which came out even better than I could have ever imagined."

Floyd chose aTodd Snydertux for his groom's look.

Inspired by their hometowns, Frei and Floyd planned a cocktail hour featuring both an Austin food station with mini tacos and sliders and a Boston station full of seafood. Then, the newlyweds and their guests enjoyed an elegant sit-down dinner curated by Chef Anthony Keene.

Floyd and Frei shared their very first dance as husband and wife to the classicElvis Presleyballad "Can't Help Falling in Love." Their wedding band,Ben Mallare, kept the dancing and party atmosphere going through the night. "We are huge music people, so live entertainment was a must," Floyd notes.

After their wedding, the newlyweds were headed off on a honeymoon in Bora Bora.

Reflecting on their special day, they tell PEOPLE it was like "a fairytale."

"If we could take the most glamorous parts of our lives and all the things that we love and fit them into a dream, fairytale weekend, that's exactly what this wedding was," Frei says.

Now that they are officially husband and wife, Floyd says they are looking forward to continuing to build their lives together.

"The past five years that we have been together have truly been the best five years of our lives — and to think that we get to spend a lifetime together from this moment on just makes both of us so excited for what the future has to offer," the actor says.

Floyd and Frei's journey to the altar began in earnest after the soap star popped the question in Frei's hometown of Boston on Dec. 21, 2024. He got down on bended knee in the winter snow in the Boston Commons and presented her with a pear-cut diamond ring featuring a split gold band.

"It was a struggle to get her to walk through the park in 25-degree weather, but we made it happen," Floyd told PEOPLE at the time.

"I'll never forget the face she made after dropping to a knee, and then surprising her with a massive party with our friends and families [afterwards]," he continued, describing the engagement as "a magical day."

"Carly is the love of my life," Floyd added at the time. "She means the world to me, and I really wanted to make this special for her."

The scorching heat wave, which began last week and brought dangerous temperatures to parts of California, Arizona, and other Southwestern states, is expected toexpand east into the central United Statesin the coming days, according to the National Weather Service. Forecasters warned that record temperatures will continue over the next several days.

The unprecedented early heat wave was the result of a high-pressure system spinning across the West, causing "an expansive dome of unusually hot temperatures," the weather service said. Based on preliminary data, the agency said more than 150 daily high-temperature marks and about 50 March records have already been broken since March 17.

Most areas from the Southwest into the Great Plains will see temperatures that are 25 to 35 degrees "higher than normal for this time of year," according to the weather service. Some areas in the central Plains were expected to see temperatures that are over 40 degrees above average over the weekend, and overnight low temperatures were also forecast to be "well above average, providing little relief from the heat."

The highest odds for above-normal temperatures, including potential extreme heat episodes, are for the interior West, the central and southern Rockies, the Southwest, and the central and southern Plains, Jon Gottschalck, the chief of the operational prediction branch at NOAA's Climate Prediction Center,told USA TODAY.

"The early time of year, prolonged nature of this heat wave, and limited seasonal acclimation will increase the risk of heat impacts, especially among sensitive populations or those without effective cooling," the weather service said. "Adjust plans to limit strenuous outdoor activities to early morning hours, drink plenty of fluids, and seek air-conditioned spaces."

Hot temperatures in Arizona sends dozens to hospital for heat-related illnesses

Dangerously hot temperatures continued in the Phoenix area over the weekend, and by late afternoon on March 21, temperatures reached 106 degrees at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, according to the weather service. The 70-degree low recorded that morning broke the previous warm-low mark of 67 degrees set in 2004 and marked the earliest 70-degree low on record, the weather service said.

The high temperatures caused first responders to help more than 400 people attending the Luke Days Air Show in Glendale, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix, with heat-related issues, according toABC15 ArizonaandAZ Family. The biannual two-day show is apopular eventat the Luke Air Force Base in Glendale.

TheArizona Republic, part of the USA TODAY Network, reported that about 30 people were taken to the hospital for heat-related illnesses during the air show. Others with heat-related symptoms were treated on scene, said Glendale Fire Department spokesperson John J.P. Chester.

"With large outdoor events and elevated temperatures, we strongly encourage attendees to stay ahead of hydration, take breaks in shaded or cooled areas, and recognize early signs of heat illness," Chester advised, according to the Arizona Republic.

Those most at risk to the heat included people over 60 years old, under 12 years old, or those pregnant, diabetic, having a heart condition. or any pre-existing medical condition, according to the air base.

"If they're in those categories, please have a good plan, whether that's just don't show up or plan around a couple key events you want to show up for, stay for a couple hours, and by all means, stay hydrated. Find shade," Brig. Gen. David J. Berkland said in avideoposted on the air base's Facebook page. "When you start to not feel right, it's time to go home. We had a lot of people try to tough it out today. Those are a lot of where our issues showed up."

How to stay safe during the heat wave

Extreme heat is dangerous and kills more people than any other weather-related event, according to the American Red Cross. Heat dangers include sun exposure that could damage skin, an increase in sweating that can dehydrate the body, and other heat-related illnesses such asheat exhaustionandheatstroke.

Here are tips to stay safe during extreme heat:

• Use sunblock or sunscreen and reapply it regularly.

• Dress appropriately for the heat: Choose loose-fitting, light-colored, and lightweight clothes, the weather service advises.

• Do not leave children or pets in vehicles: Temperatures in cars can quickly become deadly — even if the temperature outside is not hot.

• Check the weather. Look at weather apps and listen to forecasters for information about the UV index, heat warnings, and the feels-like temperature. Heat.gov has additional information about the forecast and heat risk.

• Bring water and stay hydrated: Carry multiple bottles of water if you are spending extended time in the sun.

• Find shade and air conditioning: Minimize the risk of heat dangers by staying cool and avoiding direct sun exposure.

Power has been slowly restored to other parts of the island outside the microsystems, including at two gas-fired power plants in Varadero and Boca de Jarucom, and an oil-fired plant in Santa Cruz. The island also fired up a boiler at the country's largest power plant, according to a recent social media update fromCuba's energy ministry.

The latest power outage comes as Cuba faces hardship, including multiple power outages, protests, and a lack of oil as a result of a U.S. blockade that has worsened the island's already outdated generation system.Cuba's national electric gridcollapsed on March 16, the second time in a month that has seen a series of outages, including one sparking a rare violent protest in the communist-run country.

Meanwhile, theTrump administrationin January declared a national emergency over Cuba, calling the country "an unusual and extraordinary threat" to U.S. national security.

PresidentDonald Trumphas set his sights on Cuba in recent weeks and suggested on March 17 that the United States would be doing "something with Cuba" very soon, even as the nations are said to be in talks aimed atdefusing the crisis. Earlier in March, Trump said he believes he'll have "the honor of taking Cuba" and claimed he could "do anything [he wants]" with the country.

Both the United States and Cuba have confirmed they are in talks, with Cuba's top diplomat in Washington telling USA TODAYin an exclusive interviewon March 13 that Havana was engaged in "serious" and "sensitive" negotiations with the U.S. government. Neither side has provided details of the ongoing negotiations, though Trump has portrayed Cuba as desperate to make a deal.

Mass blackouts have occurred in Cuba before,including in 2024, and are often attributed to the country's outdated generation system, which depends on agingthermal power plants. The system uses about100,000 barrels of oila day for essential services.
