After Santa Clara's Allen Graves hit a 3-pointer to give the Broncos a 73-70 lead with 2.4 seconds to go, Oweh banked in a game-tying 3-pointer from just inside half-court as time expired.

Take a look. The ball was out of Oweh's hands with 0.2 seconds to go.

Santa Clara had three timeouts remaining after Graves' shot, and Broncos coach Herb Sendek wanted to get a timeout before Kentucky rushed the ball up the court. But the official on the bench sideline immediately turned to sprint up the court and was not looking at Sendek as he frantically signaled.

The Wildcats then opened the game up in overtime with an 8-0 run. Trailing 79-77 with 2:37 to go in the extra frame, Kentucky flipped that deficit into a six-point lead and put the Broncos away. Kentucky ended the game making its final five shots.

After scoring seven points in the first half, Oweh exploded over the final 25 minutes. He finished with 35 points after he dropped 22 in the second half and added another six in overtime. When asked after the game by CBS if that was the best game he's been in, Oweh was quick to say yes.

"Nah, I'm not going to lie, that's probably the best one yet," Oweh said. "That's what March is though. All the best games happen at this time of the year and it was a blast. I'm glad we got to pull it out."

Oweh was 11 for 24 from the field and played 43 of the game's 45 minutes. He also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out seven assists, and likely improved his NBA Draft stock with his historic outing. He became the third player in NCAA tournament history to have at least 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists in multiple first-round games and the first to have a 35, 8 and 7 line or greatersince Larry Bird in the 1979 NCAA tournament.

A season ago, Oweh had 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in Kentucky's tournament-opening win over Troy.

The overtime win prevented one of the most expensive rosters in college basketball from an embarrassing first-round loss as a higher seed for the third time in the past five seasons.

After two first-round upsets in three seasons under John Calipari, Kentucky parted ways with its longtime coach after the 2024 season to hire former Kentucky player and BYU coach Mark Pope.

In 2025, Kentucky made the Sweet 16 as a No. 3 seed before losing to Tennessee.

This season, the Wildcats began the season ninth in the AP Top 25. They never got any higher than that ranking and ended up finishing ninth in the SEC in what was undisputedly a disappointing regular season. However, much of that uneven season will be forgotten if Oweh's buzzer-beater is the spark for a deep tournament run.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Cleveland Guardians won't have to pay indicted pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz while Major League Baseball's investigation continues into allegations of pitch-rigging for gamblers.

Ortiz was placed on paid leave last July 3andClase on July 28, and they received their salaries while they didn't pitch for the remainder of the season. They wereindicted on federal charges on Nov. 9and atrial is scheduled for May 4 but could be delayed.

"As the legal proceedings involving Cleveland Guardians pitchers Emmanuel Clase and Luis Ortiz continue to move forward, MLB and the MLBPA have agreed that both players will remain on non-disciplinary leave from the club without pay until further notice," Major League Baseball said in a statement Friday.

"This agreement is not an admission of any wrongdoing by Clase or Ortiz," the statement added. "MLB has been closely monitoring the matter since alerting federal law enforcement at the outset of its investigation and will have no further comment until its investigation has been completed."

Clase has a $6 million salary in 2026, the final guaranteed season of a$20 million, five-year contract. Ortiz does not have enough service time for arbitration and makes around the minimum salary of $780,000.

Clase and Ortiz are charged by federal prosecutors with accepting several thousand dollars in payoffs to help two gamblers from their native Dominican Republic win at least $460,000 by placing more than 100 in-game prop bets and parlays on the velocity and the outcome of certain pitches. Charges include wire fraud conspiracy and conspiracy to influence sporting contests.

They entered not guilty pleas in Brooklyn federal court.

Clase is a three-time All-Star and two-time American League Reliever of the Year.

Hall of Fame defensive tackle Joe Greene has not died, the Pittsburgh Steelers told multiple outlets Friday, despite speculation to the contrary on social media.

The Steelers toldTMZand other outlets that reports of Greene's death were "not accurate."

Additionally, longtime NFL reporterJohn McClainwrote on social media that he had spoken to Greene's family and confirmed that the four-time Super Bowl champion is alive and well.

"Fortunately, Joe Greene has NOT died," McClain wrote. "That report was fake news. Joe is doing great!!!"

Greene, 79, nicknamed "Mean Joe," spent his entire 13-year NFL career with the Steelers, winning four Super Bowls with the team (1974, 1975, 1978, 1979 seasons). He earned 10 Pro Bowl nods throughout his career, was named first team All-Pro five times, and won the NFL Man of the Year award (now Walter Payton Man of the Year) in 1979.

Prior to that, Greene played for the North Texas Mean Green, which adopted the name while Greene was playing there in 1966. The program retired his No. 75 jersey in 1981. The Steelers retired Greene's No. 75 in 2014.

Greene was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1984, before being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1987.

BOSTON (AP) — A man wielding a butcher knife tried to slash tires and threatened to stab a bus driver at a Boston transit station Friday before being taken into custody, authorities said.

Richard Sullivan, superintendent of police for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, said transit officers acted quickly after receiving a radio call about the man at the Forest Hills station late Friday morning. A struggle ensued, during which the suspect tried to grab an officer's gun, he said. The gun went off, but no one was shot or stabbed.

"This was a violent person armed with a butcher knife," Sullivan said. "These officers, without hesitation, immediately rushed to the danger while other people were running away from it."

Two male transit officers, a Boston police officer and the suspect were injured, Sullivan said. According to Boston EMS, six people were taken to the hospital from the station, but Sullivan said he wasn't aware of the other two.

The incident drew multiple police cars and ambulances to the station, which includes bus, train and subway stops in the city's Jamaica Plain neighborhood. The facility's upper busway was shut down around 11:15 a.m., with service rerouted to another section.

The U.S. military conducted another strike on an allegeddrug boatin the eastern Pacific Ocean, leaving three survivors, U.S. Southern Command said Friday.

In a post on X showing video of the Thursday attack, SOUTHCOM said, "Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a low-profile vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations."

"Intelligence confirmed the low-profile vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Three narco-terrorists survived the strike," the post said.

It did not say how many people were believed to have been killed.

SOUTHCOM said that after the strike, it "immediately notified U.S. Coast Guard to activate the Search and Rescue system for the survivors."

The Coast Guard and Defense Department did not immediately respond to requests for more information.

The strike is at least the second to be conducted during the ongoingwar with Iran.

On March 8, SOUTHCOM said it struck a vessel in the same area of the Pacific and that "six male narco-terrorists were killed during this action."

The U.S. has carried out more than 45 strikes in the Caribbean and the eastern Pacific since September, killing over 140 people.

The Trump administration has argued that the strikes are in the country's national security interest and have saved lives by preventing illicit drugs from entering the U.S. Some lawmakers and advocacy groups have criticized the strikes as illegal.

The X post on Friday said the strike had been directed by Gen. Francis Donovan, the head of Southern Command. Intestimony Thursdaybefore the Senate Armed Services Committee, Donovan said that, looking forward, "boat strikes aren't the answer."

He said they're working on "a counter cartel campaign process that puts total systemic friction" across various drug networks.

"I believe that actually kinetic strikes will be one of the many tools, and probably not the most effective tool, when we actually look at it as more of a campaign approach," Donovan testified.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Federal prosecutors asked a judge Friday to dismiss the charges against two Louisville officers accused of falsifying the warrant that led police to raidBreonna Taylor'sapartment the night she was killed six years ago.

Prosecutors said in a court filing that their review of the case showedthe chargesagainst former Detective Joshua Jaynes and former Sgt. Kyle Meany should be "dismissed in the interest of justice."

It's unclear when the judge might rule on the request. A hearing is scheduled for April 3.

Judges have twice reduced a felony charge against each officer to a misdemeanor, saying there wasn't a direct link between the false information in the warrant and Taylor's death. Prosecutors said after the second ruling that they had decided to drop the cases.

"We are elated with this development," said Travis Lock, an attorney for Jaynes.

Meany's lawyer, Michael Denbow, said he is "incredibly grateful for today's filing."

Meany "is looking forward to putting this matter behind him and moving forward with his life," he said.

Taylor, 26, was shot to death by police when theybroke down the doorof her apartment while serving a no-knock drug warrant looking for a former boyfriend who was no longer there.

Taylor's boyfriend at the time fired at the officers, and Taylor was killed as police fired back.

The March 13, 2020, death of Taylor, who was Black, and local anger over Louisville's handling of the case gained widespread attention during the wave of racial justice protests sparked by the police murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis that May. Six years on, activists continue to point to Taylor's killing as an example of the systemic injustice Black women face.

Federal prosecutors under former President Joe Biden pressed charges against the officers. Under President Donald Trump, though, the Department of Justice asked that Brett Hankison, the only officerserving prison timerelated to Taylor's killing, be let out of prison while he appeals his conviction.

Taylor's mother, Tamika Palmer, said in a Facebook post that she is extremely disappointed in Trump's Justice Department.

"Their phone call today informing me that charges against the police are being dropped while implying they have helped me is utterly disrespectful," Palmer wrote. "This is the first time I've heard from them since they took over and it's clear they have not served me or Breonna well."

Friday's decision was an insult to everyone who fought for Taylor and shows her life is not valued by the current administration, said Democratic U.S. Rep. Morgan McGarvey, who represents much of Louisville.

"My heart is heavy for Breonna's loved ones — this is not justice," McGarvey posted on social media.

A federal judge sentenced Hankison to 2 years and nine months in prison and 3 years of supervised releasefor blindly firing10 shots into Taylor's windows on the night she was killed. None of the shots hit anyone.

Neither of the two officers who did shoot Taylor was charged, after prosecutors deemed they were justified in returning fire into the apartment.

Police found no drugs or cash inside Taylor's apartment. The city paid a$12 million wrongful death settlementto Taylor's family.

Lawyers for Taylor's family said the warrant needs heavy legal scrutiny because without it police never go to her door and the shooting never happens. They remain angry and heartbroken almost no one faced punishment in the shootings, attorneys Ben Crump and Lonita Baker said in a statement.

"Breonna Taylor always deserved more than the scraps of justice she got. Now, even those may be further stripped away," they said.

HINWIL, Switzerland (AP) — Team principal Jonathan Wheatley has left the AudiFormula 1team just two races into its rebranding from Sauber, following reportsAston Martinwas seeking to sign him as it tries to turn around a troubled season.

Audi said Friday that Wheatley, who took charge ofwhat was then the Sauber teamin April 2025, was leaving "with immediate effect for personal reasons," and suggested there's more change to come.

Mattia Binotto, a former Ferrari and Sauber team principal who was in charge of the transformation into the Audi works team, including building its own engines, will now replace Wheatley as well ahead of next week's Japanese Grand Prix.

"The team's future structure will be fully defined at a later stage, as the organization continues to adapt to the evolving environment of Formula One," Audi said in a statement.

The announcement came a day after media outlets, including the BBC, reported that Aston Martin had approached Wheatley about a potential move.

Any move to Aston Martin would reunite Wheatley with former colleague Adrian Newey, the Formula 1 car-design great who took on team principal duties in what's been a woeful start to 2026 for the team.

Newey and Wheatley previously worked together at Red Bull when it was F1's dominant team.

Aston Martin owner and executive chairman Lawrence Stroll issued a statement Friday which didn't name Wheatley but expressed confidence in Newey in his role as "managing technical partner", and said the team doesn't follow "the traditional team principal role that you see elsewhere."

Stroll added: "We are regularly approached by senior executives of other teams who wish to join Aston Martin Aramco, but in keeping with our policy, we do not comment on rumor or speculation."

Aston Martin has lacked pace at the start of a new engine partnership with Honda and struggled with vibrations which damage the car's battery and affect the drivers.

Fernando Alonso retired from last week's Chinese Grand Prix because of "discomfort" caused by the vibrations, the team said, and Newey previously warned of the risk ofnerve damage.

Audi has had reliability issues of its own with two failures to start races, but showed stronger pace with a ninth-place finish for Gabriel Bortoleto at the season-openingAustralian Grand Prix.
