Mayweather will fight Manny Pacquiao on September 13, 2026, in a Netflix boxing event broadcast from The Sphere in Las Vegas, the streaming service confirmed on Feb. 23. This comes on the heels of Mayweather's previously announced exhibition bout against Mike Tyson andhis recent announcement that he plans to end his retirementand resume his professional career following the Tyson matchup.

Mayweather and Pacquiao initially went head-to-head in the ring in 2015 after years of negotiations in what was billed as the "Fight of the Century."Mayweather won by unanimous decisionin an underwhelming fight, but the event broke records for pay-per-view buys and live gate revenue at the time.

WNBA says March 10 deadline needed for new CBA to avoid delaying May 8 season start, AP source says

WNBA says March 10 deadline needed for new CBA to avoid delaying May 8 season start, AP source says

NEW YORK (AP) — TheWNBAtold the players' union that it needs to get a deal in place by March 10 to start the season on time at a virtual collective bargaining agreement negotiating session Monday, a person familiar with the discussions told The Associated Press.

Associated Press

The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the negotiations.

With an expansion draft for two teams needed to get done, as well as 80% of the league free agents, there's plenty to get accomplished and little time to do it. A delay would hurt both sides.

The season is supposed to startMay 8and every game missed is lost revenue, sponsorships, television money and fan support. Monday's meeting was the first between the sides that involved players and the league since theymet at the WNBA officeson Feb. 2. Because ofthe winter stormthat hit New York, it was decided to hold the meeting virtually.

Over 50 players were on the call, which lasted nearly two hours, the person said.

The two sides are still far apart on revenue sharing and housing, and the clock is ticking. The league said in the meeting on Monday that it would need to have at least a handshake agreement by March 10 for there not to be a delay to the start of the season.

The league, in its latest proposal that was sent Friday, offered 70% net revenue for the players. That came after the union had asked for an average of 27.5% of the gross revenue over the course of the CBA, beginning with 25% in the first year of the new deal. In its previous offer, the union had asked for an average of more than 30%.

The league at that point said in a statement the revenue sharing percentage remained unrealistic and would cause "hundreds of millions of dollars of losses for our teams."

Also on Monday, the union confirmed to the AP that the WNBA will give its players $8 million from revenue sharing from last season as the league generated enough to trigger revenue sharing for the first time in league history. ESPN was the first to report the move.

The players will decide how much each player will receive from that distribution. The union has 60 days from Feb. 9, when it was officially notified of the revenue sharing money, to come up with how it will disperse the funds.

That money will be distributed by the teams, which will then be reimbursed by the league. Under the 2020 CBA that has since expired, players received 50% of shared revenue — defined in the CBA as the amount of revenue that's above a predetermined threshold amount minus 30% for expenses.

Neither the league nor the union would say what that threshold is. The league has had in nearly all of its proposals that it would do away with the threshold needed to be reached for revenue sharing.

In its latest offer, the league said teams would continue to pay for housing for all players this season, another person familiar with the negotiations told the AP on Saturday. The person also spoke on condition of anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the negotiations.

After that, franchises would pay for housing for players on minimum salary contracts, rookies in their first season and the two developmental players teams would be allowed to have.

The union had asked for teams to continue paying for housing for players in the first few years of the new agreement, but in the last two years of the CBA the franchises would no longer have to pay for housing for players who are making near the maximum salary.

Milan Cortina Olympics were most-watched Winter Games since 2014 with 96% more viewers than Beijing

TheMilan Cortina Olympicsaveraged 23.5 million viewers in the United States, making them the most-watched Winter Games since 2014 with a 96% larger audience than the Beijing Games four years ago.

Associated Press

NBCUniversal said the average includes combined audiences on NBC, Peacock, CNBC, USA Network and other digital platforms. It covered the live afternoon (2-5 p.m. EST) and prime-time (8-11 p.m. EST/PST) windows.

The figures are based on Nielsen'sBig Data + Panelratings (through Feb. 19), Nielsen's early figures for the final three days (Feb. 20-22) and digital data from Adobe Analytics.

Viewership numbers for theUnited States' 2-1 overtime victory over Canadain men's hockey on Sunday morning were not expected until Tuesday. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation said on Monday that 8.7 million were watching in Canada when Jack Hughes scored the golden goal in overtime.

"I feel in so many ways that these Winter Olympics exceeded our expectations. We were reminded that the Olympics are the most exciting, unpredictable and biggest stage in sports," said Molly Solomon, the executive producer of NBC's Olympics coverage. "And what I think came together in Italy was that the settings were stunningly beautiful, the access we had to the athletes and their lives was unprecedented. And then you take the technology, the first-person view drones, the audio, and it took the audience inside the stories in fresh, meaningful ways.

"And Team USA, I mean, the results, you've seen the numbers for the medals and things. America wants to see how their team's performing, and it's the best performance in an overseas Olympics. Everything lived up to the billing, and some of the superstars had riveting, dramatic performances. Not all of them gold, but that's the Olympics, right?"

NBC broadcast the Super Bowl, the Olympics and the NBA All-Star Game in February, the first time a network had all three in one month. It also premiered "Sunday Night Basketball" on Feb. 1.

According to Nielsen, 215.6 million U.S. viewers tuned in for at least one of those events. Audience reach numbers have been higher under Nielsen's new rating system since the minimum viewing requirement was reduced from 5 to 3 minutes.

Super Bowl 60 averaged 125.6 million viewers across NBC, Peacock, and Telemundo, the second-most-watched program in U.S. history. The All-Star Game had its highest audience in 15 years, averaging 8.8 million, and the Lakers-Knicks game on Feb. 1 averaged 4.5 million.

"I have to say it's probably better than we expected. This doesn't happen through luck or happenstance. This happens through just really good planning and then execution across the month. So really happy overall and I don't think it could have gone better, honestly," NBC Sports President Rick Cordella said.
